Adult Interaction Questions
Hi, Can someone share some ideas on how to approach the following? This is an online virtual class. 1. What are the good approaches to seeking Corporate learners to interact in a virtual class? Adult learners are not switching on their cameras. Unsure whether they are behind the screen or not. Seek different ways (polls, asking direct Q&A) to engage the learners, but there is no response. 2. The video conference tool was disabled in the breakout room cos it affected the attendance API. So how can the learners do group discussions to learn and interact? It is quite tiring for the trainers/ facilitators to do a 1-way communication. Please help me if there is/are any similar exercises, approaches, methods etc. Appreciate so much in advance.

@David Robertson Thanks and it's a good idea. I will have to use many games, puzzles and similar, to arouse their attention.

Does anyone in the room have an alternate tool for multiple choice? My headache is that the text in "Question" and the "Options" in the multiple choice are restricted to less than 150 characters. Had experimented with Kahoot, but seems to accept only limited characters. Is there any suggested tool that can support more than 150 characters?
What are your top tips for setting yourself up as a freelance workshopper?
One of the great things about what we do is you can do it as an employee or go out and become your own company. Whilst the later comes with amazing benefits there are a lot of areas that need to be considers… Like - What does it take to set myself up as a business or do I just contract in. - If I am setting myself up as a business am I a sole trader.. registering by business - Defining your purpose and setting clear goals yearly, quarterly - Defining your target customers, products, services and financials. Whilst this is a passion space for a lot of us, you still need to understand your revenue needs. - Branding and marketing - What do you need to set yourself up… physically, technology - Contracts for engagements - How to build a pipeline, managing you customer base Making sure you get work life balance! Would be interested in hearing and learning from each other on what made sense for you and what you would like to share with the rest of the community…

Connecting Facilitators in Asia - China, India, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines,Vietnam...
Hi all, just wanted to connect here with any facilitators working in or originating from this part of the world. Sharing, collaborating, and learning from one another is great here but facilitators who may share similar time zones may also face many similarities and challenges that are unique. And we are here to find out. Anyone from a different timezone is also welcome to share and learn together.

Yes. I would agree with this that Asia-based trainers/ facilitators are not that well-paid. In Singapore, there are plenty of training, facilitator options and competitions. If the client gets an expensive quote, they will in turn get an alternate cheaper quote. Thus in order to secure the engagement, some trainers/facilitators do bid for a lower rate. Of course, there are other considerations too. :) This is just my opinion & observation. I may be wrong.

Agree - Branding plays an important part. Everyone knows you for that particular brand or expertise.
