$200,000 on Skool in 30 days (Avoid these 2 mistakes!!)
Just hit a record month & made $200,000 USD from my free Skool community. Total ad spend: less than $5,000. Here are 2 mistakes I see 99% of people on Skool making, including many Skool games winners who I spoke with in Vegas last week. β€’Β Mistake #1: Not having a free Skool community. Going directly from an ad/social media to a paid group looks sexy on paper, I agree. But the reality is: A free Skool community nurtures leads & gets them to convert at a rate like nothing else I've ever seen. With a free Skool community, you can nurture leads in 4 ways: 1) The DM's (auto-dm to kick things off) 2) The community feed 3) The classroom 4) The calendar All without ever coming across as salesy! β€’ Mistake #2: Telling people to join your free Skool community. I used to tell people to "jOiN mY fReE SkOoL cOmMuNiTy!" but nobody was joining :( I thought it was an issue with Skool. But then I started doing something insane... I started leveraging human psychology and talking to people about their DREAM OUTCOMES and frustrations. I started saying stuff like: "If you want to achieve <dream outcome> in <X timeframe> without <pain/effort/frustration>, click here to download my new free training that shows you how." And then I'd link them to my free Skool community. Guess what happened? People joined by the TRUCK LOAD. Turns out, nobody gives a πŸ’© about your free Skool community - until they're in it. To get them to join in the first place, you need to use bait. The best bait I've found? Free (GENUINELY HELPFUL) stuff like courses, pdf's, etc. that help people achieve their specific dream outcome in a specific time frame without a specific pain point. Hold nothing back in your free content. Give give give. Upsell the DFY/Done-With-You implementation - but give away all the DIY instructions. Growth has been insane ever since I started taking the above πŸ‘† seriously. $200,000 in 30 days!!! Hope this helps, Ted P.S. I've attended 5 Skool Games events in Las Vegas and even a lot of the top winners don't know this stuff... but once they implement it, they make even MORE money.

Facts!
New Discovery algorithm update
Now we show the top 5 groups from every category on the homepage in random order. This gives groups from all categories a better chance of being discovered. Plus it's more fun. We used to rank all groups globally, now we rank them per category. We tried a new algorithm, but as many of you pointed out, it wasn't very good. We reverted to the original algorithm. Thank you for your feedback. Our intention is to make things better, and we did, but we had to make things worse for 24h to get there. Sorry about that. More detail in the video. Enjoy!

New Discovery Algorithm
Before: The same groups showed every time you visit (meaning a few groups grow) After: Different groups show every time - try refreshing (meaning lots of groups grow) Before: Primarily focused on quantity (posts, comments, members) After: Primarily focused on quality (retention, engagement, members keep visiting) Before: One overall ranking (painting groups compete with business groups) After: Different rankings per category (each category competes with itself, evening the playing field) - Check it out and see what you think for yourself: https://www.skool.com/discovery. I think it reveals some really wholesome groups. - Note 1: Retention doesn't just apply to paid groups. If members regularly visit a free community for long into the future, that means you have good retention! We reward groups with high retention. Note 2: For more information we have three help docs. How to rank higher in Discovery? Why isn't my group visible in Discovery? How is my group categorized? Note 3: "We're fixing some bugs with the new discovery algorithm so things may change over the next few days. Don't read too much into the current rankings till the dust settles. This change will definitely help more groups get discovered." - @Sam Ovens

Quick question @Andrew Kirby, we remove people after 2 weeks if they haven’t leveled up to level 2, I’d imagine this reflects poorly on the retention aspect of the community right? And if that’s a huge factor for ranking, it’s probably best to stop removing people yea?

@Jade Jemma It registers as "churned" no matter if we removed them or they removed themselves. My community went from #8 in our category to #20 seemingly over night so this tells me that removing people is more than likely not favored with the new updates. Bummer because It makes me want to just start my community all over again.
Favourite little-known Skool feature?
I use Skool a lot but wonder if there's any features I don't know about. What's your favourite little-known Skool feature?

@Aidan LaBreche agreed!
Custom Skool Domain URL
So believe it or not… I still haven’t claimed my custom URL. Why? I literally have my community link out in 100s of places. I think about how long it’s going to take me to go find all the links and change them all. Emails, social posts, workbooks, checklists, etc. Does anyone know if my current url will still work if I change it to a one word custom url? Thanks in advance πŸ™ UPDATE: I can't read... see the image lol. But this is great news!
