I wasn’t sure what to expect when introductions were made. You know when you’re hoping the real life version of someone matches (maybe even exceeds) their online persona… but you don’t really want to hope because, well, people have let you down. They tell you what you want to hear. They put on smiles and give virtual high fives. Then in person they are patronizing, aloof, or frankly just don’t care to acknowledge you. Too many people miss this truth shared by Martin Luther King, Jr, “Character is how you treat others who can do nothing for you.” Or the variant popularized by famed Coach John Wooden, “The true test of [someone’s] character is what [they] do when no one is watching.” These days someone is always watching. So let me share what I saw. I’ll list the person, provide a noun that describes them (in my opinion), then explain. Please be patient as I’m adding individuals just one or two at a time during my breaks between Prime Mover action taking!
