Procreate vs Photoshop: Discuss
So...not to ruffle feathers here but my process has been SU->Photoshop. Via Cintiq when I'm in the studio and via iPad when I'm traveling/on site for a workshop. From what I've seen, Procreate seems to be the better 'digital sketching' option....but I'm hesitant to make the switch since I'm still desktop-bound most days and there is no desktop version of Procreate. Any thoughts there? I'll post a few of my loose charrette sketches (done in 1-2 hours max) for reference. Thanks in advance.

@Eloise Leask agreed. I just find myself going back and forth between too many other apps, SketchUp for example - which has an iPad version but I'm just not efficient with after so many years spent using the Desktop app

@Ron Sieh Ok that might have sold me right there...time to get Procreate and start experimenting!
Introduce yourself and share a photo of your workspace
Hey there, it's Henry Gao! 👋 I'm based in the Bay Area, California, hanging out with my lovely family - two kiddos and our golden retriever boy. Though I did the whole architecture school thing in both Canada and the U.S. (yeah, twice!), I discovered that teaching is my true calling in life. Drawing has always been a passion of mine, and now, I've seamlessly transitioned from pen and paper to the wonders of the iPad. When I'm not busy shaping young and old minds, you can find me hitting the trails for a run, exploring nature on hikes, or catching up with our church family. My goal here is to ignite your interest in the iPad scene. But I'm not just about design and drawing! If you've got any burning questions or just want to chat about life beyond architecture, shoot me a message. I'm all ears and ready to share whatever wisdom I can offer. ✨

@Eloise Leask Hi Eloise - you have to tell us how you made/found that flooring? I both want it to be made from real comic books and don't at the same time (as I wouldn't want to destroy them in the process).

@Jj Zanetta Hey JJ. Good to see you here. I'm sure you have many tips to share. Are you attending 3D Basecamp/Dimensions in Nov? I didn't see your name on the presenter list :'( - Cheers.

Welcome @Shirley Azer - I'm in a co-working space as well and enjoy it compared to the isolation of home..but even too much time in the office gets old...getting out to travel and sketch helps! Do you travel as part of your job?

Here’s one of my first Procreate drawings using Henry’s brushes and layer structure. It’s a trace of a photo of a barn with 2nd floor apartment that I built for a local winery here where I live in northern Michigan.

Hi Stephen. Nice work. I see you posted this nearly a month ago now but let me know if you're still interested in some feedback. It's less about the sketch style per se - which looks great (framing, people, shadows, line hierarchy, etc)...more about the initial camera set up and composition I'm curious about.

@Stephen Hammontree it's really more of a question that may lead to feedback. I think there's something both cool and a bit 'off' about the angle. The camera is placed higher than the subjects in the foreground, say 10'-12'...but you still get vertical perspective distortion as if the shot was taken from much lower - my question is that intentional or a happy little accident? Follow up - how do you approach choosing angle/eye height/lens tilt?
