What’s the BIGGEST challenge you are having with your training right now?
Hey Strong Runners 💪🏃‍♂️ My goal with this post and community is to help you with your half or full marathon training. I could post random content but I think it would be best if I directly answered your questions… So with that being said, what do you need the most help with right now? What is the biggest challenge you are having with your training? Let me know and I will make a post about it. Tony

Keeping my heart rate in zone 2 is next to impossible.
Heart rate woes
Walked for 5 mins then set the speed at 5.5 for an hour at 2.5 incline. This is as easy a run as I can do, and still, my heart rate gets up there. It does not feel that fast and my breathing was normal. Running outside, I can’t seem to string together more than 2.5km without taking a walk break. Pace outside is around 6:30-7:30/km. What can I do to get back my distance? My marathon PR from 2011 is 4:55:51.

Heart rate woes

Hi Skip! I think it started with getting Covid in Dec 2022. Symptoms were pretty mild and first run back afterwards I was able to trail run 2.5km steady. Then in Feb 2023 I agreed to test out a running plan by a friend at our CrossFit gym. He wanted us to keep our heart rate low and to stop and walk to keep it in range. I think that was a bad habit and now I can’t seem to break it. I am 59, no allergies, probably need to strengthen my glutes and learn how to control my breath better. My Vo2 max used to be 39-41 before Covid and is currently about 33 (according to Garmin). I also stopped taking hormone replacement about a year ago and recently learned my Synthroid Rx may need adjustment. TSH level is almost non-existent but T3 and T4 is going up.

I ran my first marathon in 2011 and would love to qualify to run Boston someday.
