Shortage Of Skilled-Trade Workers Crippling Some Industries
Imagine having to turn away customers because you can't find enough skilled technicians. Sounds like a nightmare, right? Unfortunately, this is the reality many of us in the automotive repair industry are facing today. Mark Gilman from The Epoch Times recently highlighted the crippling shortage of skilled-trade workers affecting our industry. While college graduates are struggling with debt and job uncertainty, high-paying, tech-driven trade opportunities are being overlooked. Michigan alone needs 47,000 new tradespeople each year, and our industry is feeling the pinch. What’s even more frustrating? High schools are cutting shop classes, leaving students unaware of the lucrative opportunities in our field. This growing gap could cost businesses billions if we don’t act fast. Want to know more? We have the same problem in Australia, an ageing technician population, very few apprentices coming into the industry but our cafes are staffed with university educated baristas struggling to pay back their HECS debts.
