4 Years Later... It Finally Paid Off
Yesterday was one of the best days I've had, and I wanted to share some experiences that I think will help you better understand this world and navigate through it. Since 7th grade, I was that kid who watched countless videos on YouTube, constantly wondering, "How does YouTube even know what I'm watching? Why does Google Search show me results similar to what I wanted to search for?" Being curious but clueless, I decided to search for "How does YouTube work?" I still remember a video by Tom Scott where he explained how they use deep learning and machine learning to suggest videos. This was about 4-5 years ago. While the core principles remain the same, the algorithms have become more robust over time. That’s when I became truly fascinated by machine learning (ML). From that point on, I delved deeper into the field—reading research papers, watching explanatory videos, and learning about deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and neural networks. It was awesome! My curiosity was insatiable, and I often felt a bit sad that I hadn't discovered these interests earlier. But hey, I know them now, and that's what matters. Simply watching videos and reading papers wasn’t enough to truly understand and apply these concepts, so I started my coding journey. My first programming language was... haha, you’re probably thinking Python, right? Nope, it was HTML. I know, I know—it’s not a programming language. But I was just a kid who didn't quite understand what that meant, so I started with the basics of web development: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. These aren’t AI-related, but that’s what my brother suggested, so I listened to him. However, my real journey began with Python—the first true programming language I learned. I’ve spent countless hours mastering it. For all those people out there, Python is just normal English! Don’t say you don’t know how to code in Python unless you don’t know English—that’s a different story. Maybe try Bhailang for all you Hindi-speaking folks out there (you know what I mean! 😂).

I am also thinking of competing in the USACO with Java this freshman year. I'm not that strong at coding considering I have Math and Physics competitions to try out for. Just some questions: Would learning most of the basics of Java be sufficient? I looked at the first questions and I am already blown away (https://usaco.training/usacogate). Would following this (https://usaco.guide/) be sufficient?
Any Math, Physics or Coding Olympiad/competitors?
I wanna connect with others with my same interest and even better if you have placed in them. I hope you can help guide me to my own place on the podiums!

@Syeda Zainab Fatima doing well?
The Keys to Leadership
There are two main ways to demonstrate excellence in your extracurricular activities. The first way is through awards. It’s a great way of o show that you can be a part of some of the best of the best in your respective club or activity. However, in this post I’ll focus on the second method of enhancing your extracurriculars, leadership roles. So, first things first, what makes me qualified to speak on the topic of leadership roles? Well, next year I’ll be representing my grade alongside 2 other students from my grade for what is essentially a student senate. More importantly, next year I’ll be the Junior class President for. Both of these positions that I’ll hold next year are voted positions that I was elected for. (I’m also a peer mentor in my school which means that I’ll help the newer students and as a part of NHS there are also leadership roles there, but those aren’t as important as the previously mentioned other two). In this post I’ll explain important things to know in general about leadership roles, how to acquire those roles, and specific methods I used to achieve my leadership position. Starting with the general pieces of information on leadership roles, these will suck up a lot of your time, but the reward is worthwhile. For clubs, having a leadership role means that you have far more responsibility that most other clubs members which means you are investing far more time into this activity than most other students. Exactly how much extra time you are spending on the club activity depends from club to club, but in general, you can assume that the extra time spent is about 1.5 to 2 times as much as the average club memeber. When you are spending so much time on one activity, you want to make sure that you are spending your time on something that is really important to you. If this activity isn’t something super important for you, it may be better to remain as a regular club member rather than spend more of your time on something which isn’t as worthwhile.

I ran for president last year and lost by 6-10 votes lol. Looking at your speech, I don't get how you didn't bore them to death. I didn't do a speech and it was more of a Google form with your platform and ideas listed. I think I lost because I didn't have a catchy slogan and the formatting of my platform was more paragraph base. My opponent split her paragraph up into 1-2 sentences. I also think I could of put a bit more effort in the posters. Anyways, I will be running for President again this year against the current president. I feel like that since she's president already, people are probably gonna vote for her again cause she got "experience." You have any suggestions?

@Krishna Reddy dude, stop replying to other people under this post. Reply to them under their comment. Your making this post unnecessarily long
Any Physics/Astronomy scienctists?
I've noticed that a lot of people are doing research related to biology so I just want to ask if there's anyone who are researching physics/astronomy that I can talk to. Just curious
