Training with video games.
Sometimes I like to work out with a fitness oriented video game. One of my favorites is "Thrill of the Fight" a vr boxing game. It's the game that feels the most like a sparring match, while others are full of video game elements like "stamina bars" and "buttons" this One is very stripped down. The only game mechanics are punch and don't get punched. It also gives you feedback by flashing different colors on the impact to tell you if you punch fast enough. Does anyone else have a game to recommend?

I've never done this as an adult but I had a plug and play lightsaber game when I was a kid that I think actually really helped my sword skills! I think I'd enjoy a motion sensing game to train with, but someones going to have to invent motion sickness proof VR before I can hop on that train haha
What makes Martial Arts great?
What aspects of the Martial Arts do you think make all the different styles so great? For me, I think Martial Arts are fantastic for many things but especially for physical health. As a LMT I work with a lot of clients who suffer from general body pain and injuries that build up due to a sedentary lifestyle. MA is a fantastic tool for building functional strength, mobility, coordination, and so much more that can drastically improve someone's physical health for the better!

I love the community building aspect! I've never been a super team sport oriented person, but I do love working towards a goal with others. Martial arts has always been a great way to do that with like minded people, and has really given me the "found family" that is so important!
Most memorable video games from childhood
What was the most memorable video game from your childhood? While there are certainly many the one I think back on (and still play) the most was Legend of Zelda Link to the past. That game had so much time in stuff from Nintendo. The Nintendo power spreads as well as a 12 month run of a link to the past comic! The maps, lore expansion and the game itself is a true masterpiece!

I played the Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind a ton when I was a kid, it's still one of my favorite games! I love open world fantasy RPGs. I got a Morrowind tattoo last year and it's definitely conversation starters since very few people recognize the giant bug that serve as Morrowind's public transportation haha
What Was Your Inspiration to Start Martial Arts?
Happy Friday! Wanted to throw this out there to see what everyone's experience was. For me, I wanted to become like Goku from DBZ when I was a kid and thats what led to my initial interest in martial arts

When I was seven and my brother was five my parents had me in dance and him in martial arts, but after watching a few of his classes I begged them to let me switch! I loved it as a child and was really sad to have to stop when I went to college, but I got back into it basically as soon as I could afford classes again! For me it's something I don't feel fulfilled without.
👋 Hi, I’m Brandon!
I want to get these 3 things from the community: 1. Enhance my current knowledge of martial arts by adding new perspectives from this community. 2. Find people of similar interests to collaborate with. 3. Help others along their martial arts journey. For fun I like to do these 3 things: 1. Practice martial arts 2. Listen to music 3. Play video games A little extra about me: I’ve been training in martial arts for around 16 years and have a specific passion for teaching the martial arts to others. I consider myself very open minded in the martial arts and I like to explore different styles outside my core style. I’m excited to learn from everyone is this community, thank you for having me 😃

Hi Brandon! Welcome :) I hope we are all able to learn some things from different styles, I always love hearing how different styles approach concepts in different and unique ways!
