Question for @Allie Harris and any other guitar gurus here. When you are playing, what’s your brain doing? For me, I’m mentally saying the strumming pattern in my head (“down, down, up, up, down, up”) or what fingers to use when picking (“thumb, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1” referring to the fingers, not the strings). I can listen to the music/metronome, and sight read the chords to change (or just change on time if I know the song change by memory), but if I think about the words to the song my hands tend to forget what they are doing. Any tips/tricks would be appreciated.

Hi all. I’m always interested in other folks story and inspiration and motivation. So my question to everyone is why did you pick up a guitar? What inspired you to say - “I want to do this…” For me, though I’ve always loved music, what inspired me to try my hand at the six-string was binge watching the Beatles documentary ‘Get Back.’ Just watching the creative process of random chords being crafted into chord progressions and eventually phenomenal songs had me in awe. I remember thinking - ‘man, I wish I could do that.’ Then I thought, why not? While I’ll never have Fab-4 success, I can certainly get some personal enjoyment. Shortly after that I signed up for music lessons at a local music store, bought a mahogany 000-Bristol guitar, and started building calluses while trying to keep time. How about y’all?
