Sensitivity to Hormones
@Jes Fleming with PMDD can you be more sensitive to the natural rhythm of hormones outside of the luteal phase too? In my experience I can be sensitive all throughout my cycle in different ways. Like euphoria the day I bleed or the day before when hormones like progesterone dive back down and before ovulation as my estrogen is rising I can just get pure euphoria then too and almost have this mania feeling because the amount of energy I have but it still stays within the bounds of being able to sleep normally and make rational decisions etc. But I definitely feel “high” on my hormones some days in the best way lol. Maybe it’s just because I have PMDD days to compare them to so the highs feel really high, don’t know 🙃

The Pill
Hello all, Iv been on a long road, trying to ease my PMDD symptoms. For most of my life Iv been on The Pill but stopped 3 years ago and switched to Mirena IUD, then it was removed as it caused a lot of irregular bleeding. This is the time I was diagnosed with PMDD, and was initially put on Prozac after 8 months, I came off it as it wasn’t working, then put on HRT. I don’t feel the HRT is really working after 9 months and I wondering if I should just go back on the Pill! I have also cleaned up my diet, doing regular exercise and drinking much less booze and taking supplements a nutritionist has advised. I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience? Thank you 😊

Birth Control/Meds or All Naturale?
Hi community! I went off birth control a couple of years ago when my partner and I started to get serious, because I felt comfortable enough with her to try living with PMDD naturally. She’s an incredibly patient and loving person and I am so grateful for her, but we still have our ups and downs because of my mood swings. Two months ago, I started to taper off of my anti-anxiety medication because I found out through a gene swab that I have serious interactions with it and many other depression/anxiety meds. After this taper, I started having mood swings more severe than ever, blaming my partner for every little thing that annoys me, and having really dark, negative self thoughts. Not to mention, my depression got really bad (I still take depression meds). Talking with my therapist, I decided I would start moving my body intentionally to help with my emotional sensitivity and stress relief, but to also keep some weight off (I also have an eating disorder due to the pmdd). This was starting to help a little bit, but my emotional sensitivity and irritability just kept getting worse, so I went to my gyno and asked to be put back on BC. She put me on the same BC, Jolessa or Sitlakin, that I was previously on because it’s a 3 month pack and seemed to help at the time. 2 weeks in, though, and I feel like I’m bloating in my stomach and face, overeating again, having negative thoughts and wanting to isolate. So I guess the point of this post is: Does anyone have a similar experience they’d like to share, or any advice that might be helpful? I would love to handle my PMDD without medication, but when I’m there- it feels like the world is ending and the only thing that will help is medication. Thank you, friends! P.S. It feels so good to have a safe space to post freely about this disorder!

Cravings!
Ugh, cravings. Am I right? I have never been shy around sweet and salty snacks, especially growing up in my grandmas house. BUT my pmdd makes ignoring or replacing those cravings so hard. I have had some issues the last couple of years with overindulging myself on sweet and salty snacks, but I am finally at a place where it’s getting to be unhealthy. I want to turn this car around, quick! Any advice or similar stories?

Describing PMDD
How to accurately explain PMDD to a significant other so they get it. It's not just PMS or 'that time of the month'.
