Wins and belief 💪🫶👏
So, it's been a minute, but i wanted to share a win, along with some past reflections.
I hurt my foot/ankle about a month ago (then caught a bug🤒🤧); BUT- not being able to focus on lower body as much has forced me to work on what I can, and I am proud to share that I met 1 of my goals today....I did 5 consecutive, strict pull-ups!
When I first started CrossFit a couple years ago, I could barely hang on the bar. As a prior gymnast (albeit, almost 30 years ago🤯), this was very upsetting to me. It may seem silly to some, but it was a reminder to me how weak I'd become, how much weight I'd gained over the years, and it felt very defeating. I credit this gym family with helping to keep me motivated and helping me remove that negative self-talk that says, "Why bother!?" It took me almost a year to be able to do my first pull-up, and it was around this time where I had a mindset shift. I started to appreciate what my body CAN do (and has done)...not so much on what it cannot. I had this "a-ha moment" where it dawned on me that I am stronger in some ways because I can't imagine strapping a 40-50 lb weight to college-aged me and doing a pull-up back then....and I certainly don't think I could have done 5!
So, though I certainly have my moments of self-doubt and lack some motivation at times, I am super grateful for my fit fam for always inspiring me to keep pushing, keep trying, and if I have to take a few steps back and get another one of those lessons in patience and perseverance...that it's, also, a time to reflect that there's always something good that comes out of a not-so-awesome situation, and that we're all stronger than we believe!
Keep on, keepin' on, everyone! I/we believe in you!!!!💪🫶👏
