Apples
Do apples have a significant place in your 811 regimen ? Do you eat them often, especially in winter ? It did for me in the beginning of my transition, but I noticed for the last three years that I consume them less and less. To the point that today I cannot imagine making a mono meal of apple, as I find usually myself more hungry at the end of the meal than before, and they provoke almost always some kind of stomach ache. At best it is a little snack nowadays... It's far from being a sub-tropical/tropical fruit, maybe that's the reason ? I only go for good organic ones of course, as it's one of the worst spayed fruit. I've also noticed Doug doesn't mention it once in the week of eating examples of the 801010 book. What is your experience ?

@Richard Gambino I can count on the fingers of one hand the apples I eat in a year and they are only Fuji, and after eating a couple of them I wonder, “Why am I wasting my time and appetite on this stuff?”

@Sharona Vainberg I am still congested, but I am reorganizing my thoughts and today was all in all a very good day. I find it so nice that you asked. Was it a good day for you?
I'm Getting A Little Worried ...
Hi everyone, I am finding myself for the first time since adopting a fruit based diet legitimately struggling with what to eat. Here on Crete the fruit options are very limited this time of year because there's very little imported stuff at least in my rural area...(bananas are all Dole which I don't enjoy the taste of, and tasteless mangoes from Brazil.) For the last 2 months I have been enjoying delicious local bananas which I buy direct from the vendor at the farmers market for 1€/kilo because they are a little split or "imperfect-looking", however he told me yesterday that he's not going to have any more of those now and very low supply of the regular ones for the next 2 months at least. The regular ones he is selling for 2.50€/kilo which I feel is a bit high with the quantities I would be wanting to eat. I already asked him if he would give me a discount and he said no because he has such low supply right now. Then of course there's tons of delicious local citrus right now which I am eating for 1 and often 2 meals every day. I feel that I do need to have at least one meal of denser high calorie fruit though, and I'm not sure what to do about this banana dilemma. Another option could be apples and dates but organic dates aren't available here and I'm not sure if eating lots of dates every day would be the best for my teeth. I would really much prefer to stay raw over the next 2-3 months but another "last resort" option I thought of could be having citrus for my first 2 meals of the day and then a partially cooked dinner with sweet potatoes as the main calorie source. Another part of me wonders if it would be better to take a little trip somewhere close by for the next couple months where I could have better access to a wider variety of fruit...Canary Islands or North Africa maybe? Anyone have any advice for me? What would you do in this situation?

For me, Dole are among the best bananas you can buy, and I would take advantage of them if I were you. If you live in a rural area with few services you might consider making a weekly trip to the nearest wholesale fruit and vegetable market, and stock up for at least a week. Even here in Italy I find that the food this winter is particularly good.

@Dareios Katsanikakis certainly on the islands it tends to be more complicated and expensive to procure food, but I am sure that by doing a little research you can access those who supply the merchants where you usually buy, definitely saving money and having more choice and freshness. I am not aware of any information regarding Dole's irregular use of pesticides, or human rights violations, but I generally tend not to pay heed to this kind of vilification that I think has a hidden purpose. From personal experience, I find Dole's products to be of the highest quality.
Long trips
I'm going to Costa Rica for almost 7 weeks. I love my work, and yes, I must continue to work. Good thing I love what I do. The only part I don't enjoy is being away from my family. My wife, my daughter, and yes, even my daughter's little Bijon dog, Daisybelle, who adopted me and gets me out of the house for walks every night. How do you handle being away from family? Any special strategies?

For me, a good way to feel less distance from family is to share with them the details of our days, the little things that may seem insignificant but instead make us feel close. As well as making them share in our successes that are keeping us away from them, making them cope better with our absence. Have a nice trip Doug 😁
