Diagnosis - EPI -- Prescription: Fruitarianism!
One of the things that brought me back to 100% raw fruit based this year was my worsening gut issues. I have celiac, and despite scrupulously avoiding gluten for decades, I still have problems (pain, bloating, flare-ups of diarrhea -- pretty much the entirety of 2023 was a diarrhea flare-up; I got down to bmi 12 at one point). I've avoided fat forever because it makes things worse, and I have to be very careful with leaves and veg. Just learned that I have severe EPI - exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. No pancreatic digestive enzymes, so no wonder! And no wonder I feel so much better eating fruit -- no enzymes needed! The medication for this condition is porcine based; as a Jewish vegan there's no way in heaven I'm going to take that! So fruit is right, right?!

100% right. Do keep track of your progress here, and if you need any help, just ask.
Improvements of life going raw
I hope no one minds me Journaling here. I've only been raw vegan 80/10/10 for 4 months but since that time made many good life improvements like completing the Level One 80/10/10 Certified Coach Program. Then getting a Dexafit Testing Package and realizing that I needed help getting to a healthier body with more lean muscle and less fat. Then signing up for a 24 hour gym and using Kickoff App (I have free one month Guest Pass for anyone interested you get Zoom call with Certified Personal Trainer and they get you a workout plan and videos that show you how to do exercises anyhow I pay $95 a month for this and it has been well worth it for me) with my Certified Personal Trainer that works with me and I message her often for advice. I'm sure I'm already lower body fat and know I've gained muscle too so definitely moving in the right direction. I also looked in the mirror of my finances realizing I'm a mess financially. What I mean by that is I've been winging finances all of my life without a budget and when I tried one in the past I always gave up in two weeks or less. This time it's been over 2 weeks and I'm using YNAB (You Need a Budget). It may be a couple of months before everything including my numerous debts get fully organized because the learning process and changes will happen along the way but now i can confidently say that i will be a lifetime budgeter realizing the immense value. So I am putting my progress of developing and working on business as 80/10/10 Coach on hold at least until I get finances in order so not sure when will be the right time for that but i trust iĺl know when. Thank you to this community for your support. What life wins have other community members had since becoming 80/10/10? With love, Derek

SHINGLES
If 95% of all disease is caused by what you eat, then the other 5% is SHINGLES!! Working 2nd shift I got run down and have been afflicted by shingles for 2.5 weeks. I'm organic 80/10/10 for 15 years at 72 years old, raw vegan for 32 years. 1 in 3 adults over 50 will get it. Anyone with shingles experience please comment. I refused the vax and the pharmaceuticals and have been on a suppliment/herbal regime. It is starting to weaken. Most painful experience of my life and I've been around a while!

No personal experience but plenty with patients. Lack of sufficient sleep is high on my list of potential causes...

How are you doing in that arena, Trayce?
Which fruits do you enjoy in the autumn time?
I can’t wait for persimmon season, just the thought makes my mouth water😆 I live in the UK, so grapes and bananas are always a staple year round. How about you, what are your go to fruits this time of year?

I just finished eating the last of my 6 trays of awesome Turkish figs. Likely the end of the season for them, at least here in England. Pineapples are currently melt in my mouth delicious.
humans vs monkeys
Hi, I would love to get Doug's or anyone else's in put on this. I found an article about human vs monkey anatomy and diet comparisons, and I read it very carefully. It is here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/10378206/. First I want to say I very much prefer 801010rv to a cooked diet. But a couple of things in this article made me question it: 1) our digestive tracts aren't the same as monkeys. Human small intestines are twice as big as most monkeys and our large intenstines are half as long. The author said the monkey's large intestines absorb nutrients from the greens that they eat. My understanding is that the small intestines absorb digested food. There are some scientists who say we've been eating cooked food for 800,000 years which is long enough for us to evolve a digestive system suited for that--longer small intestines for absorption of cooked food? and shorter long intestines since we can cook our vegetables and don't need to digest them raw? and 2) the fruit monkeys eat is very different from cultivated fruits we eat today. Our fruits have much less fiber and more fructose and less glucose. However, if you take into account that sucrose is half glucose and half fructose, the amount of fructose vs glucose (when including sucrose contributions) is not terribly different. For monkey fruits, glucose is 60-50% and for our fruits, glucose is 50-40%, typically. but monkey fruits do have quite a bit more fiber it seems and aren't as sweet in general. So that suggests our fruit is not the same as our ancestors ate. However, neither are our cooked veggies and starches. I just began to wonder if our cultivated fruits are too low in fiber and too high in sugar to be optimal. and...if we should be eating some cooked veggies, which allows a larger variety and gives you more nutrients even though some are destroyed in cooking--but the articles I've seen say that you get 50% of your vitamins and all your minerals from cooked food (when you eat the broth as well).

@Barbara Whitney Comparative Anatomy dictates, via The Law of Similars: ALL animals that are anatomically and physiologically SIMILAR, thrive on SIMILAR foods.
