Choosing windows can be a daunting task; with the myriad of colors, styles, and sizes. Here are a few things to think through to help make your decision. - Light: How much light do you want to let into the home, what areas of the home are naturally dark and could use an influx of sunshine! - Cost: As a rule, larger windows are more costly due to the added material, but smaller windows with more complex geometry can be purchased. (for a home always ensure your windows are double paned for added strength and insulation) - Shape/Size: Very large or exotic shaped windows, can add character and ambiance to your home, although this does come at a greater cost initially, and greater cost time wise when adding trim and such.

Installing Solar can appear tedious and daunting; Here are a few images and tips that we learned & hope they help you out! The solar system we utilize is from Sungold Power; it was relatively easy to install and the package came with the majority of components needed to complete setup. We did purchase the conduit and weather head, some 4GA wire for the battery connections, and a stand for the batteries. - Choose some straight 2x4's and clamp them onto the roof; providing you with a ledge to set the solar panels on. This will allow the panels to slide forward and backward while keeping them at an even height. - Overlap the feet of the solar brackets whenever possible, this reduces punctures in the roof and saves on screws. Once you are satisfied with the placement of the panels apply some caulk to the underside of each foot, around the screw hole. - Run the wires down and over the edge of the roof; we used 3/4" PVC conduit with a weather head at the top to run the "+" & "-" wires to the junction box. - This inverter and battery setup are required to be mounted indoors, so ensure you have a cavity that can hold you batteries and inverter.

- Tiny house area  unique form of housing that combines the mobile aspects of an RV with the structure and home like feeling of a conventional stick built home. - Where our factory is located, Oregon, a tiny home is classified as a structure that manufactured at a facility, transported on a trailer, and is under 400 sqft. For all structures over 400 sqft there is a separate Golden Seal; under the state of Oregon.  - Tiny homes are built nearly Identically to a stick built home; with a few exceptions. Extra care is needed when applying hurricane straps and strong ties. Each wall must be secured to the trailer with a 1/2 “ bolt @ every 48”. In addition, placement of the axels and tires should be planned for under the kitchen counter and under the stairs to the loft. Weight also is of greater concern when selecting your building material. 

The home shown in the pictures above was a test of our ingenuity, craftsmanship, and design integrity. Within this 300 sqft is a full kitchen, bathroom, 2 lofts, Composting Toilet, woodstove, solar system, and split mini. Not to mention a ¼ wrap deck with awning. Fitting all those into such a confined space was a challenge…many hundred of hours were spent over the layout alone; perfecting and simplifying as we went. What we ended up with was a well balanced home with the capability to be placed anywhere. And with an added water tank and pump, be self sufficient and completely off grid!

- Know your Route: Not all paths are equal! Heights of power lines, condition of road, and tight/blind corners could spell disaster to your tiny house’s journey. Tunnels and bridges can add additional hazards to be watched out for! - Ensure you have the correct permits for your tiny house; some are extra heavy and some are extra wide; talk with your local DMV regarding regulations on non CDl trailer trip permits. They are inexpensive and relatively easy to obtain. - Does your hauling rig have the correct equipment! Most large trailers have a 7-pin outlet. This will run your brakes, and all trailer lighting, as well as keep the charge on the emergency battery box.
