Turning on the lathe
Decided I need to learn my way around lathe work. This piece is not sophisticated, but it's the first bowl I've turned in nearly 40 years.

One of the great things about turning on the lathe, is that there's plenty of room for artistry, especially the type of artistry that brings out the natural beauty in the wood.
Have You Ever Worked with Bamboo?
We're seeing more and more things showing up in the stores, which are made of bamboo. There are even those who have suggested it as an alternative for wood in woodworking. While I don't think that bamboo will ever have the beauty of wood, I got curious about how it is to work with. So, I bought some and tested it. Check out this video, where I try out the bamboo, to see how it would be to work with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6Ga_OukgDA

Making Better Use of the Router
After the table saw, the router is the most useful power tool in the workshop, able to do many different tasks. In this video, I explore several of these, expanding our use of this valuable tool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vSK8Fgxj-Y

Handmade Sign
A guy contacted me via Facebook and asked me to carve him a live edge table top with his logo, I told him I wasn’t confident I could copy his logo and that I’d like to “practice” on a scrap piece of wood. I don’t think it was good enough because when I sent him this practice piece via mail, he backed out of the live edge table with his logo, said his wife didn’t want it but he would pay me for the “practice “ piece “ I think I still made like $300, I was still bummed out because he already committed to the table and SLAB, and at that time I was kind of counting on that money for our property taxes. So dudes ask your wife first ok?

Don't know where you live; but I think there would be a lot of places in the tourist towns in the Colorado Rockies that would be interested in your work. Fits the style of those towns.
A BIG SIGN
I had made this sign as a donation to a local MMA FiTNESS class that my children were attending. Unfortunately they never put it up and went out of business. I don’t know what happened to the sign. I was super bummed because I was hoping this was going to showcase my work in the community and people driving past in the highway. Oh well. I’ve since went a different way, nobody wants to pay much for custom hand carved signs when they can have one laser cut cheaply on Amazon. At least I haven’t had much luck, a few interested but then shocked at how much I want.

Beautiful work There are people who are willing to pay for custom handmade work. They're just a bit hard to find. you've got to ignore those who want something cheap and wait till the good ones come along. Getting your work out there is a good way to let them know you're there, so don't lose hope.
