Thoughts? I feel like so many nurses NEED recognition.

@Mary Alexander exactly. We need to focus on the research outside of the nursing field. Polyvaglal Theory by Dr. Stephen Porgous and the Vegas nerve data is where we should Focus and learn how to regulate ourselves and then create a safer environment by co-regulating with each other. (I feel like we could talk for hours 🤣)

Letting Go by David R Hawkins, MD PhD
I wish the book was called "Let it Be". I think what he really means is "let go of control", not, "let the feeling go away", strictly speaking. This is aligned with everything I've learned through research and it really does work for me. The goal of an emotion, from a survival standpoint, is survival. The limbic system is giving you information in the form of an emotion (the main language spoken by the mammal brain), and because it's charged with keeping you alive, it will keep banging loudly until you let it know the message has been received and considered. It really is that simple. And hard 🤣 Dr Hawkins is an MD and a Psychiatrist. Here’s a quote from the book: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way”

I absolutely love this quote!!
This from ANA seems very generalized. Where are the real experiences?
I came across this article from the ANA about nurse burnout, but it feels very general. Where are the real tips, the personal stories, and the experiences we can learn from? Burnout is such a serious issue, and we need to hear more success stories, real challenges, and practical solutions that have worked. Nurses, what has helped you? What are your strategies for overcoming burnout? Let’s share and learn from each other! Everything on nurse burnout and stress seems to have the same “vague” information. Let’s get real! https://www.nursingworld.org/content-hub/resources/workplace/what-is-nurse-burnout-how-to-prevent-it/

@Ginger Branson you absolutely correct when you say what may work for some may not work for another. The core of burnout is nervous system disregulation. By the time you are in burnout your body has been in the sympathetic state for so long you are going into the dorsal: immobilization energy. It’s learning and recognizing what state your body is in, trying what works best for you and doing it consistently enough to bring yourself back into regulation and build your capacity.
