๐Ÿ’ŽHow I went from $0 Online to $26k/mo In 4 Months
If you read this post and do as I did, you will get an even better result.
My secret? I copy people. But not like "Oh I'll give it a half-hearted try and see where it goes", like "I am going to do exactly what they did but work 2x as hard to catch up" type of copy.
That's where most people fall short.
So if you want to copy what already works and catch up, don't waste your time if you're going to be lazy
For everyone else, here's who I copied and what I coped from them. They are smart, I'm just an engineer. If I were to prop myself up in any way for being smart, it would be that I was smart enough to copy the smart people.
I copied:
and his success roadmap for my free community. Before that I did not have anything defined for them as to what success looks like. Now, they know exactly what to do and what's next. This really gives people the "early win" they are looking for. If you have a community and don't make it crystal clear what success looks like for them, they won't be around for long.
and her 1. Copy 2. Work ethic. Most people overpromise to win the Skool Games and then blow it on delivery and end up back where they started. Others underpromise and don't win. Only the elite overpromise AND overdeliver. When you find them, don't let them get away. I not only "copy" her and her copy (lol) but also her drive to get the job done no matter what.
and his community approach. He taught me what it looks like to provide true gamification inside my community and the data behind what to give and when. Before this I just had random gifts no one cared about, now I've leveled it up. How would I have known that if I didn't have someone to model it for me first.
and his approach to business. He may like to fly under the radar a little bit, but his approach to synthesizing finally put a definition behind my purpose in life. I strive to not just say, but actually live out an approach like his where serving people truly is the main driver and always will be.
and his ability to dig deeper. I don't know how podcasters do this stuff but I'll be honest I was a pretty shallow dude when it comes to digging in. Matt asks the right questions, listens well, and has given me more than he knows both in person and on the good ol Skool Podcast.
and his "Don't give a f$#@" approach. I used to care what people thought about me, like a lot. But hanging around Goose has helped challenge me to be more aggressive in my thinking and action taking, knowing as long as I copy the right people I can stand behind my work.
and his simplification of business. Obviously I could probably go on forever about what he's done for me, since when I found him I didn't even know what "business" was. But the biggest way I've copied that in my community is just simplifying the process for people. Not making money? Need more leads. Leads not coming? Need a better offer. It works.
and his emphasis (and active model) of focus. Not only have I copied it in my own business, but I preach it to everyone in my community. It's easy for me to talk (I talk a lot lol) but having evidence behind what I'm saying is what's really driven it home. Sam exemplifies what focus can do, and I'm here to lock in alongside him and everyone else.
and his social media wizardry. I'll be honest, I told myself I was copying him but I haven't really up to this point. So I guess this is me saying I'm going to put my 2x effort into copying him now like I actively have with everyone else.
and his onboarding push. When I went to the Skool Games mastermind I didn't know what onboarding even was. Now I have a team repping our community, providing genuine value AND bringing in more members.
I could write until my hands fall off because so many of you have helped me build my business to where it's at whether you know it or not. When I joined Skool I literally time-blocked an hour every morning to going through everyone's community and writing down what was working.
I love copying smart people. The only caution I have is making sure the people you copy have evidence behind them, not just words.
I'll be honest, before Skool I made the mistake of copying people I THOUGHT were successful but were actually just blowing smoke, and I paid for it (with many $$).
Now, I (and all of you) are in a place where transparency and value are the true drivers. No hidden incentives. So cheers to this community and all of the future people I will get to copy.
If you are someone struggling or still starting out, I highly recommend connecting with these people and learning what you can. For the record, I work in a TINY niche, and was still able to draw value from all of them DAILY for months now. So no your idea/community/niche is not too small.
Cheers to your success my friends
