Moderation Feedback
Introduction:
Both & have made posts about increased and stricter moderation for both The Skool Games & The Skool Community.
Naturally this is a positive going forward since this allows for more quality and more value to be added for the platform overall.
However there are 2 important feature that are missing to truly magnify the quality that is being made.
The features:
The two features are Moderation Feedback & An appeal system.
Let's give an example:
If we upload a YouTube video that we spent at least a few hours on, and as soon as the video is finished publishing it gets taken down with no feedback of why it happened.
This not only closes any opportunity of learning how to improve to fix it for the future, it also leaves a sour taste in the mouth of the uploader.
Now naturally the next step would be to appeal the takedown to try to find out more.
Why?
Because not every decision is 100% accurate especially if it's an automated process.
To be fair,
Every post can't be appealed and a ton of them will be denied naturally.
However there are cases in which the decision is wrong.
To be clear I'm onboard with it the decision too double down on moderation myself. It sounds like I don't like the change but I genuinely do. As mentioned earlier it helps everyone receive and create better value.
This is also an important feature for new users. ( Who already are on the fence about posting and make up the majority of the community)
It's possible being absolutely new they don't know what a quality post for the community looks like.
Even while making this post and have been on the platform for a while. I have no idea if this will be taken down or not.
That in of itself is a huge problem.
This is not a rant, this is meant to spark a discussion.
A Skool Solution:
Now there's no point of critiquing a system if one is not willing to also provide a solution.
For & an interesting feedback mechanism for you guys is to use the community as your moderation team but allow it to be used for experience.
You guys have a report feature for flagging bad posts which is a great start. However let's dive deeper and also use the native gamification system as well.
This method involves growth operators.
Growth operators are a necessary part of Skool they not only help Skool generate traffic by targeting influencer with large audiences and having their audience convert to the platform.
grabbing is a great example.
If a user hits level anywhere between 6-9 (they should be invested and understand the community before doing this for maximum benefit for all)
They could have an option for joining an internship or program of some sort that allows them to become moderators of the community.
Moderating a huge creators community is difficult. It requires the same skillset as a moderation team while also providing
They can import links of cases and appeals they solve into a doc and when they book a visit to HQ they can recieve contact information that they can use as a reference.
After a certain amount of cases they can leverage their experience and feedback from you guys to go after bigger influencers.
We can have a gamification aspect for the mod team to see who can come up with the most quality cases.
This is more of a minigame inside of a video game type of deal.
Anyways thats just my 2 cents on the matter to help improve.
TLDR:
Please give us feedback if our posts are taken down.
An appeal system if we believe our posts fall in line.
Leverage growth operators to increase the moderation team.
If anyone took the time to read this behemoth, thank you for your time!
