The Ultimate Guide to 10X Delegation
Accountability
Greetings Ops! I have been having a lengthy conversation with our President about creating a culture of accountability. While things are not bad, there have been some issues that are frustrating in their simplicity. (About half the team is new here with less than 1 year's experience and we have had some new advisors make some simple errors.) She wants to create greater accountability and consequences for certain actions and mistakes, and we are coming from different approaches in the conversation. I am more of a counselor coach, and she would like progressive discipline. How do you handle employee accountability at your firms?

"Rethinking A-Players" Survey by BeyondFA
We’re excited to be supporting Natalie Bergsma and BeyondFA, in conducting research aimed at understanding leadership in advisory firms and its impact on a team’s effectiveness, satisfaction, and professional growth. While industry surveys typically focus on the advisor perspective, this survey is asking for insights directly from the staff working in advisory firms to get a first-hand perspective. We’d love your support! If you’re an owner/advisor, please forward this to your team, so they have the chance to participate. If you’re a team member, please take 10 minutes to share your feedback via a short survey. The information you provide will be anonymous and kept strictly confidential. CLICK HERE TO BEGIN (it takes a second to load) The survey will be open for responses until August 11th, so please take the time to share or complete it before then. Thank you for your support! P.S. If you have any questions about the survey, you can also reach out to connect@beyondfa.com. ⚡Comment below once you've completed the survey and the lightning bolt will turn green. :)

Remote Teams
We are in the process of adding to our team, and the current hire will be remote. We are largely an in-office team with two remote employees (both of whom had been in office for years before moving). My question is what approaches do you use to create a sense of team with remote staff? While my previous jobs have had multiple locations and teams, we were geographically close enough to hold quarterly team meetings and events as well as I could spend a week at each location in the interim. Thank you in advance for any ideas.

What, another meeting?!?!
We have had those meetings. You know, the ones that seem to have a life of their own, and not necessarily a good one. Since starting with NFA, I have struggled to get meetings under control. Some meetings can be text messages or emails; others are important, and discussion is needed and an outcome is necessary. "The hard truth is, bad meetings almost always lead to bad decisions, which is the best recipe for mediocrity." Patrick Lencioni, Death by Meeting: A Leadership Fable About Solving the Most Painful Problem in Business I am trying to create an environment where it is understood that a meeting requires an agenda, not a free-for-all discussion. I do use daily check-ins where each person gives a quick update of the day's expected to-dos. I keep the check-in to 5 minutes to make sure we focus and drill down on the big rocks. What approaches do you use to guide and contain meetings?
