I started to follow Chinese Medicine and also go for consults. I learned a lot about my body's state and type. The questions I asked were: Do I have enough qi in my body, Is my body more Yin (cold) or Yang (warm)? Am I out of balance? What can I do to get back in balance? (Diet, exercise, sleep, mental state, herbal supplements). Is there too much heat? Is the body damp? I started to look at health in a different way. Even with food, you could know if it was damp in nature, hot, cold or neutral. For example, green tea is cold it does not dry your body whilst coffee is hot it dries your body's fluid. Everything in life has a little bit of its opposite, too, and balance is the key. With Chinese medicine, I learned that they create harmony and a healthy flow of qi (energy that flows through your body). Chinese medicine includes: - Acupuncture: very fine needles placed gently in the skin - Cupping: heated cups that create suction on your skin - Herbs: teas, powders, and capsules made mostly from plants - Meditation: a way to sit quietly and calm your mind - Moxibustion: dried herbs burned near the skin - Tai chi/Qi gong: exercise with slow movements and focus on the breath The approach is different for each person and current medical state. Here is a little chart to understand your organ's repair/maintenance schedule. If sleep is interrupted on a specific time frame, the qi of the organ is not flowing well, or there is an underlying cause and so on. I'm still in my learning phase, hopefully, we can all benefit from it! 🌾
