The first test- Acid Reflux: Vinegar Causing Irritation? Why?
During our 7 day hack we suggested a few test hacks to see how your body reacts. And one of the easiest things to look for is inflammation and high acidity in the body.
For those who experienced irritation and felt vinegar sitting to high in the chest.
If you weren’t diluting your vinegar can be one reason but...the other reason could be a sign of where you need to pay attention to first while on this healing journey!
If you’re experiencing acid reflux after taking vinegar (even just a spoonful before meals as recommended by experts), it may be due to acidic irritation in the stomach. While vinegar can sometimes help improve insulin sensitivity and slow glucose absorption, it also increases stomach acidity, which can irritate the lining of the stomach or esophagus, especially if there’s already some underlying inflammation or a weakened lower esophageal sphincter (LES). This can lead to acid reflux or a burning sensation in the chest.
Here's how you can alleviate this:
🌱 Herbal Snacks and Meals for Acid Reflux Relief 🌱
If you’ve been following the method with vinegar before meals but have experienced acid reflux or a burning sensation in your chest, you might be dealing with too much stomach acid or irritation. While vinegar can help regulate glucose, it can also increase acidity, which might irritate the stomach lining or worsen acid reflux symptoms.
This imbalance in your gut can lead to symptoms like heartburn and discomfort after meals. To counter this, try incorporating these soothing, gut-friendly remedies into your routine:
  1. Reduce the to one spoonful in 8oz of water, add lemon and/or orange slices to the water. drink throughout the day.
  2. Slippery Elm is a herbal plant that can help improve mucus production and protect the digestive tract. It contains mucilage, a gel-like substance that coats and soothes the stomach and esophagus, providing a protective barrier against the acid that can erode tissues. Slippery Elm is often used to treat acid reflux and digestive discomfort by helping to restore the mucosal lining and promote healing. (DM me for a link to get a Slippery Elm Tincture)
  3. Chamomile Tea 🍵: Drink chamomile tea to calm inflammation and reduce stomach acid irritation.
  4. Ginger Chews 🍬: Ginger helps support digestion and can reduce the acid production that leads to reflux.
  5. Oatmeal with Bananas 🍌: A mild, fibrous breakfast that absorbs excess acid and is gentle on the stomach.
  6. Melon Salad 🍉: Melons like honeydew neutralize acid and ease digestive discomfort.
  7. Aloe Vera Juice 🍃: Helps soothe the esophagus and stomach lining to alleviate acid reflux symptoms.
💡 Change in Environment: A simple change to help reduce acid reflux is to stay upright after meals. Avoid lying down for at least 30 minutes, as this can prevent stomach acid from rising into the esophagus.
By managing the acidity in your body and choosing soothing, natural remedies, you can reduce discomfort and promote better digestion. Once we've addressed this acid you can gradually increase back to 2 spoonfuls.
