Emotional Intelligence
Dazz posted about EI a bit ago and I was actually just reading on the topic and working on growing in my EI.
There are 4 widely accepted areas of EI:
-Self-Awareness: perceiving your thoughts, feelings, limiting beliefs, basically understanding what makes you tick. Often based on your upbringing, past experiences, personality, and many other factors.
-Self-Regulation: similar to perceiving and controlling your emotions but often involves action - i.e. you perceive you're upset and lacking motivation to train, you control your emotion and choose to be positive, and choose to exhibit discipline and Self-Regulation by going to the gym anyway.
-Social awareness: being able to perceive others' emotions, moods, behaviors, and motives (required empathy) i.e. you can read the room
-Relationship management: uses your social awareness to manage your interactions successfully. Handling conflict, communicating effectively, etc are tools to manage your relationships.
Are you ticking the boxes in all domains? Or maybe you're self-aware but need to work on Self-Regulation and directing your behaviors in more positive directions?
