Hey team! I just hit PRs for 3RM Squat and Deadlift. I’ve been following the 8week HyRox BaseBuilder (I think). Todays lower session was the test/retest and I added 20kg to my Squat and 15kg to my deadlift!! I’m pretty happy with that. I hope everyone’s training is going well, this has given me a kick to keep going and dial-in a bit more….

@Matt T Cheers mate. Just dealing with a bit of stress at the mo and it either goes two ways for me. Either I crack on with training and deal with it that way or do the opposite and do nothing. A week off training quickly turns into a month and so on. Thanks very much mate really appreciate it 🙏

@Matt T that makes complete sense mate! It’s identifying the small tell tale signs and doing things to improve the situation before they get worse! Off to the lakes for a couple of nights and got some walks planned so that’ll definitely sort me out and looking forward to coming back feeling refreshed and ready to crack on! Thanks for the leg-up Matt mate. Massive appreciation 🙏🙏
Intro
Hi, Carl here. Delighted to join what is clearly a like-minded group. Keen to get healthier and fitter to be there for my kids in ten years’ time. Two years post ACL surgery and apparently not very good at following physio regimes, so there’s Challenge no 1! Still hanging around on FTRS service with the Army - know Tom from school and also Matt T. (Is it too late to pretend he recruited me for the stash bonus?! 🤣)

Introduction
Hi there team, thank you for this amazing opportunity! I’m a British Army veteran of 22 years & I had the honour of serving with Tom! I have various injuries from this career, but I do my best to stay active. Recently moved to Spain with my fiancée & our dogs, so the current task is wading through the bureaucracy involved with getting my visa. This weekend I’ve been in Estonia with the Invictus Games Foundation, as we entered 3 teams in the 70.3 relay event (I did the run in 1hr45 & 28degree heat), so very grateful to be part of this. Tomorrow I start my 2 day journey to return home. I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone, increase my knowledge & keep pushing forward 🙂

Monday "Motivation"...
The speech marks are purposeful... I am not a fan of 'motivation' as an activator to do anything... I much prefer making sure we have the processes in place to mean we don't have to rely on such subjective, inconsistent and fleeting things. So... with that being said, what is a thing you have in place that makes it more likely you will do a thing... I'll go first... my supplements are always out on the counter top... not in a cupboard! GO...

I book my gym sessions in advance rather than say an hour before the session starts so it’s harder to back out. I also tell the mrs I’m going so she keeps me accountable.
I’ve taken a week off…
There, I’ve said it. A week off work, and with that also the best part of a week out of the gym, off training. I’ve not even been for a run! I’m loving it, but also looking forward to getting back home and back to the gym. The sea has been refreshing 🥶, I even convinced my kids to come down at 08:01 this morning, and the pasties (I’m in Cornwall, back to my roots) have been nourishing 🤤. Hope everyone is well.

Nice one, Matt! I definitely think taking a break from training now and then has its benefits. It not only gives you a chance to miss it but also helps you come back stronger and more motivated.
