Have your social media habits changed since joining Skool?
❓Curious if you find yourself on IG, FB, TT, X, etc. less or more than you used to be or if it's about the same... I've only been here for about 3.5 months, but I'm finding I spend less and less time on other platforms as time goes on. I was already not very active on SM and had been looking/hoping for something else. I still check in occasionally on my family/friends, and I know I'll probably need to show up more as I grow my new business, but for now as I'm creating and building, Skool has what I need (to feel part of an authentic, engaged, & trustworthy group of likeminded/likehearted people with similar goals.)

Absolutely @Allison Saunders. Addiction to social media isn’t like typical addictions (e.g. to alcohol). When withdrawal symptoms hit with alcohol you can still have a drink and at worst feel guilty about it the next day. But once you decide to delete a social media account it’s final – it’s gone for good and you might struggle with that decision for weeks, months or even years. Last week I put together a course on mindful social media exit which is now available in the classroom of our community. In it I provide a practical guide on how to measure the effectiveness and level of dependence on each social media platform. Then I explain how to prioritize your usage gradually realizing which platforms no longer serve you. The process involves backing up contacts informing them of your intention to leave a specific platform and inviting them to an environment that feels right for you – a place where you want to centralize your interactions. For example Skool.

@Allison Saunders we are on the beginning. I had an community building agency. In the biggest peak we had 15 people in the team, and managed 11 FB/Slack groups for our clients. Than I burn out little bit. :-)
How do you manage multiple groups & keep engagement up?
How do I manage and truly be engaged with 2 groups? I truly believe in giving away information and helping out so I’m considering starting with a free group and creating a paid group once engagement is up. How do you manage it all? Do you have a schedule that you post on? What’s the secret ? A little background: Im new to Skool so I’m trying to figure the platform out. For my community I’m focused on building a community of business owners who have questions on how to run their finances and operations. I’m a fractional CFO & real estate investor, helping businesses with their financial strategy and all things money so that they can do things like invest in real estate or other assets to create generational wealth.

A Google Sheet with direct links to the parts of the community where you’re active will suffice. My process, for example, isn’t about opening Skool or Facebook and randomly searching for a group through the search bar. Instead, I go directly to Tarifa Entrepreneurs (my local WhatsApp group), then visit High Vibe Tribe or The Skool Games. I don’t waste time filtering because I’ve done the work of creating links that filter for Unread Posts sorted from newest to oldest (not by activity). And of course, I evaluate each community because I spend only measured time on social platforms and want to be where it brings me the most value. This also helped me realize that I impulsively wanted to launch three groups at once. Thanks to this method, I slowed down and temporarily paused two groups here on Skool to focus on setting up processes in the one that’s already working well for us.
New direct competition 👇
I discovered this tool through consultations with a few leaders of established Facebook groups where we discussed the potential migration of their existing communities to Skool. At first glance, it might not seem ideal because this tool doesn’t, for example, allow for creating discussion threads (unless I’m mistaken). However, it does address something that has been and still is a competitive advantage of Skool, gamification processes. Their strength lies in focusing solely on onboarding, payment processes, and taking their fee only from profits. I think they’ve fine-tuned this better than platforms like Patreon. As we can see, communities and subscriptions are becoming an even bigger phenomenon. If we want to elevate Skool, we should consider not only how to build communities from scratch but also how to effectively migrate long-standing communities and forums from "Old School" platforms like Facebook groups or Reddit. What are your thoughts?

Community Searchability Improved
Do you know why we like Google's Search Bar? Because you can write a weird sentence and somehow it still understands. Do you know why we hate Google Drive's Search Bar? Because you need to write exactly correctly for it to find a perfect match. Could we move from Drive's to Google's search bar in the Community Search?

12,777 FB groups have more than 50K members 👇
Imagine you had to build a community of over 50,000 members from scratch as quickly as possible. How long do you think it would take you? Even marketing and onboarding superheroes usually need 6-36 months for this. What if we could skip the hardest phase (Community Development) together by acquiring a few interesting FB groups where it makes sense? We would then create a premium group for $9/month on Skool alongside these groups. Our goal would be to migrate 5% of accessible members from the larger group into a VIP community, generating at least 2,500 x $9 = $22,500 MRR. Out of my list of 200K FB groups, 437 communities have more than 500,000 members. Additionally, 153 groups have over one million members. Does this math make sense from an investment perspective to someone with available capital? Ideally, someone with experience in M&A or having exited their own company.

Your comment is thoughtful @James Tuckerman, but it seems you might not fully understand our business model. We’re not talking about building communities from scratch. Our focus is on migrating well-established Facebook communities to the Skool platform. Migration, as you rightly pointed out, is indeed a senior-level skill because it’s not just about conversions. It’s about maintaining engagement and transferring the community’s value to a new environment. Most importantly, you need to uncover all the “whys” that will motivate members of a free Facebook group to create a profile on Skool and start paying for membership. For example, I’m currently negotiating with the owner of a Facebook group with 2 million members to create a VIP Skool community for $9 per month. The goal is to migrate at least 1% of members to the paid group and eventually leave Facebook behind. For the past two years, I’ve been involved in acquiring and selling established communities across the community industry. This isn’t about random attempts but about strategy and experience. Thanks for sharing your process. It’s always interesting to see how others approach these challenges! 😊

That’s absolutely fine @Kai Cole, that’s what I’m here for. If you want to understand it better, just ask, and I’ll be happy to explain further.
